It’s quite a challenge to paint outside, even if we know that for landscape artist it’s a must thing to do.

What to focus on, while painting Plein Air, and how to organize your work in studio will be explained along the painting demo.

Each object or scene requires a specific sequence of painting events, e.g. underpainting, texture, color mixing.

Zufar Bikbov will show you how he works on a seascape scene with boats. Starting with a sketch while explaining his choice of composition he will show his painting process.

The format of his canvas will be surprising, vertical 12”x 8”. You will learn why the vertical format is preferred. You can use conventional horizontal, vertical or square canvas. Try to sketch your vision of the scene prior to the demo.

Zufar Bikbov's passion for oil painting and the dynamic nature of the plein air work has led him to avidly explore the landscape in countries he lived in.

Trained in Russian in classic academical traditions, he embraces experimentation in his artwork. Zufar's painting style exhibits elements of both realism and impressionism.

"My goal is to fill my works with lyricism, which is a story rather than just pure meditation. While painting a question that often arises: What is realism in art in the age of advanced photography? Painting en plein air gives me a chance to answer it.
